The Constable 5 Weapon Surrender Program is collaborative partnership involving Travis County courts, fellow law enforcement agencies, and Constable 5 to further address current and recurring crimes involving weapons.
Our goal is to enforce strict compliance with weapon surrender orders, improving the management of surrendered firearms, and the anticipation of a significant reduction in recurring crimes involving weapons. The surrendered weapons are turned over to our office by court order, condition of bond, service of protective order or a voluntary surrender by a defendant. All weapons are either ordered for temporary surrender or destruction.
Currently Constable 5 has over 200 firearms in our possession and have destroyed over 100 firearms/weapons. Through these collaborative efforts we can enhance the overall safety of Travis County communities by keeping firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a risk.
